One of our members is the Art Teacher there and has generously arranged
for us to use it - it's ideal!
During the summer months (June through August) we meet at the Ruth
Hughes Memorial Library
in Imlay City, in the large meeting room, downstairs.

We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month
from 6 pm to 8 pm (ish).
Why we are:
We are a small (so far) group of people that wish to focus on Art
Quilting, fiber art and surface design.
We are here to help each other to perfect our art, become more
professional (i.e. enter galleries and shows, create a body of work,
etc.) Our members range from traditional quilters who want to break the
mold to professional artists. We are very informal, no President or
Officers, no dues, no formal structure.
We do a Show & Tell every meeting and we like you to bring something
each time, even if you have no work to show, bring a photo or something
that inspired you, or made you feel like running to your machine and
creating somehow. Every other meeting will be a critic of something you
bring in; usually work in progress that you need help with what to do
next or what you should have done better (for finished work). Wear your
armor for this one, we are kind but the best critics are honest. Also we
will discuss such things as the creative process, color, how to get in
shows, and other stuff of that nature. On the "other" month we will do a
small demo of a technique - every one takes a turn in this.
E-mail me for more information, to be added to the e-mail roster for
the group, or to find out what to bring to the next meeting.
Welcome to Scarlet Zebra. I am Deborah Pym Harowitz.
I love the tactile elements of fiber,
fabrics and yarns. I love to dye, quilt, weave, spin and knit. I love to
wear my art for all to see. I love color and embellishment of all kinds. I
love beads and dangly things. I love to ignite the fires of creativity in
those who would otherwise be harmless. ;o) I believe a world without
lots of color would be a dismal world indeed. But, as all things inevitably
change, after seven years of being an Internet Fiber Art Supplier, I decided I'd
prefer to make art instead of sit at a computer wishing I had time to make
art. So, as of November 1st, 2005 the supply division is closed. But, I'll be
designing, teaching and creating art with fiber. I'll be following my bliss!
As my world slowly changes and I morph from a business woman to a working
artist (at last!) I hope to share my successes and failures with you. My
wonderful hubby, Jack is doing some art glass. Together I
hope we can create wonderful things and share them with you in these pages
that used to be a catalog of supplies. Our talented daughter will continue
to add her creative influence as she always has - even though she is off at
college and working at becoming (someday) a world famous Playwright
;o) Watch for new additions to replace the old supply pages. A
gallery of work, teaching schedule, designs and finished work for sale. It may be slow, dissolving a business is every bit as much work as creating
one I'm finding. But life is good and I can smell a few lavender bushes
along the way ;o)
is my hope to spread the love of creative adventure to all fiber art hopefuls
and artists. To inspire, teach, share and infect others with the love of colorful
creation! To learn and be inspired by other fiber
artists. To create art with fiber.
concentrate on Color, Surface Design and Embellishment for the fiber arts.
others about fiber art as well as help them achieve their own unique visions.
To corrupt the heck out of those who live in a pastel and calico world and
lead them astray to a world of bold, bright, and embellished expression!
